MANNY'S NEIGHBORHOOD GRILL

Manny's had been on my mind lately due to the recent closing of the downtown location on Cumberland Street.  Since I happened to be in the neighborhood, I decided to drop in and check out Manny's West Ashley location's lunch specials. Smaller and significantly more intimate than its now-defunct sister restaurant, Manny's has a true neighborhood feeling that is aptly reflected in its name.

Customers can choose from one of the many high, round tables or booths, all of which afford an easy view of one of several TVs.

I appreciated a rare, mid-work-day viewing of the televised Wimbledon quarter-finals as I looked over the daily lunch-specials menu. The specials, which range from $6.99 to $7.09, are offered on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and are hearty, Greek treats that fit the bill for a speedy, satisfying work day lunch.

A moist, toothsome rotisserie Greek chicken ($6.99) permeated with lemon and oregano was delicious with a heaping pile of freshly fried seasoned fries.

A green salad with a fabulous Greek vinaigrette (oregano and olive oil were fine) and diced fresh tomatoes and fresh pita bread wedges were included in the humble (especially for the portion) price.

Service was friendly and fast. Lunch also can be ordered from the extensive regular menu and local delivery is available.
